Jorge Fernandes

CEO

Jorge Fernandes is an industry icon well-known for identifying new markets, then building products based on new technologies to exploit those markets.  Before starting MOBIbucks, Mr. Fernandes built a number of successful start-ups.  He was co-founder, CEO and Chairman of ViVOtech, having conceived and demonstrated the initial products for PayPass and NFC. Previously, Fernandes was president and founder of EmployeeLife (NASDAQ-ICGE), BioLumin (NASDAQ-MDYN), and LaserTron (NASDAQ-LZTN). He has authored over a dozen patents in the areas of payment technology, software algorithms, robotics, digital feedback, and laser systems. Mr. Fernandes received his BSEE from San Diego State University and MBA from Santa Clara University.

Thomas L. Recktenwald

President

Thomas L. Recktenwald is a payments industry veteran who, before joining MOBIbucks, co-founded  Stored Value Solutions and served as executive vice president and general manager.  Previously Mr. Recktenwald held senior level positions in the financial industry including senior vice president, Acquirer Group with First Data Corporation and president of NaBanco Acquiring Services. From 1980 to 1994 Mr. Recktenwald served in various capacities with National Processing Company concluding with his position as president, Check Security Services. During the 1990’s Mr. Recktenwald was also a member of the Visa and MasterCard Acquirer Operating Committees. He acquired his B.S. in Finance from the University of Louisville.

Dash Chang

Chief Technology Officer

Dash Chang leads the technology development for MOBIbucks innovative mobile payments solutions.  Mr. Change brings more than 42 years of entrepreneurial leadership to the position.  His work in macro-economics/statistics lead to the first spreadsheet (1976), algorithm (1969) for solving large systems of simultaneous equations (i.e. Google search), and clairvoyant search (1982).  He was an early innovator on mainframes (Dynamics sold to Chase Manhattan), Macintosh accrual accounting software (Chang Labs sold to private investors), Internet software (Supersite sold to private investors), and secured, public Wi-Fi with 300 points of access. (Still active.). He is also an expert on SoMoLo (Social, mobile, local) with 800 apps, 4 million downloads - working on all mobile platforms. Mr. Chang holds degrees in computer science and economics from MIT.

H. William Baustien

Senior Vice President of Sales

Bill is the Senior Vice President of Business Development for MOBIbucks, he was a senior vice president at Stored Value Solutions, Inc. (SVS), holding various leadership positions in their business development, card production, client services and sales departments from 2000 to 2009.  Prior to his tenure at SVS, Bill served in various senior executive positions working in the merchant acquiring industry providing payment solutions to national merchant chains for credit and debit card processing for First Data Corporation from 1994 to 2000 and National Processing Company from 1987 to 1994.    From 1980 to 1987, he worked for PNC Bank Corp. (formerly Citizen Fidelity Bank) primarily in a business development role supporting merchant acquiring efforts and corporate cash management products.  Bill has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and a MBA from Bellarmine College.

Ziad Alshobaki

Managing Director, MENA and Far East

Ziad Alshobaki is responsible for directing business development activities and establishing a strong network of partners in the MENA and Far East regions.  Before joining MOBIbucks, he was alliance and channel manager at SAP where he worked with qualified partners and helped them deliver key projects by introducing them to the SAP business solutions portfolio. Prior to SAP, he was a regional sales manager with IBM, selling consultancy and outsourcing services, e-Business Solutions. Mr. Alshobaki was also a member of the team that started Tijari.com, the first B2B portal in the MENA region. He has extensive experience in channel and alliances management in the information technology sector as well as sales and business development. He completed his studies in the United States and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Chicago.

David J. Barram

Chairman

David Barram is the Chairman of Mobibucks. He was appointed by President Clinton as the Deputy Secretary and COO of the Department of Commerce and later appointed to head the U.S. General Services Administration. Before working for the government, Mr. Barram spent 23 years in Silicon Valley with Hewlett Packard, Silicon Graphics and Apple, serving as CFO for the latter two. He serves on the boards of Computer Sciences Corporation, Pope and Talbot, Velocity11, America’s Choice, and the non-profit National Center on Education and the Economy. Mr. Barram received his MBA from Santa Clara University and his BA from Wheaton College.

Jeff Samberg

Managing Director, Acadia Woods Partners, LLC

Jeff Samberg is currently the managing director at Acadia Woods Partners. Previously he was vice president, corporate strategy of PeopleSoft Inc., vice president, business development of Wily Technology and an Entrepreneur-In-Residence of Greylock Management Corporation and Greylock Partners.  Mr. Samberg serves as an outside director of Phanfare, Inc. He serves as a director of RainDance Technologies, Inc. and Monitor110, Inc. and on the … board of Mzinga, Inc. He received his M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and his B.A., with high honors, in economics from Princeton University.

Steven P. Novak

Director

Steven P. Novak has 30 years of experience in securities investment and finance.  He is an independent director of TICC Capital Corp, a publicly-traded business development company and several privately-held companies.  He had been a director of CyberSource, a payment management firm since the Company’s inception in December 1997 until its acquisition by Visa, Inc in 2010.  Previously, Mr. Novak served as president and chief executive officer of Palladio Capital Management LLC which provides management services to Palladio Partners LP, an investment partnership.  He holds a B.S. from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Robert J. Ford

Advisor

Robert J. Ford is the former executive vice president and CTO of CyberSource, a leading payment management company and now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Visa, Inc.  Mr. Ford held various other leadership roles during his tenure with the company, including executive vice president of product development, senior vice president of product development and vice president of engineering.  Prior to CyberSource, Mr. Ford served as vice president of engineering for Extensity, Inc., vice president of engineering for Intrinsa Corporation and vice president of engineering for Objectivity, Inc.  He was employed by Boole & Babbage, Inc., from 1980 to 1992, where he served in various senior engineering management capacities.  He received a B.S. from Witwatersrand College for Advanced Technical Education in South Africa.

Dale Achabal, PhD

Advisor

Dale Achabal is the L.J. Skaggs Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the Retail Management Institute and the co-chair of the Department of Marketing at Santa Clara University. He also founded the Retail Workbench Research & Education Center, sponsored by a consortium of leading retailers from around the world.

Professor Achabal is active in research focusing on retail revenue management, multi-channel retailing strategies and consumer patronage. He has published numerous articles in leading journals and presented papers at industry and professional conferences throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific. He is a member of the CIO Council of the National Retail Federation (NRF), the Editorial Board of the Journal of Retailing and recipient of three national awards for his research.  Dr. Achabal is also a consultant in the areas of multi-channel retailing strategy and marketing analytics. His current and former clients include AAFES, AT&T, DFS, Gap, IBM, Infosys, Levi Strauss, Oracle, J.C. Penney, Jardine Pacific, Safeway, and Target corporations. He serves on the board of directors of RivalWatch and Goodwill Industries of Silicon Valley, is the Consumer Technology Advisor for Halo Fund III, and serves on the advisory boards of several privately held information technology firms. He received his Ph.D. in marketing and regional economics from The University of Texas at Austin. He has taught in the undergraduate, graduate, and executive development programs at leading universities around the world.
